The new season is already under way, with Millwall beginning the 2026–27 campaign after a hugely encouraging previous year.

The cup competitions were less successful. Millwall were eliminated by Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup and by Crystal Palace in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Overall, however, the season represented significant progress. Millwall established themselves as genuine promotion contenders and will begin the new campaign with another opportunity to challenge near the top of the Championship.
Who Is The Manager of Millwall?

At the other end of the squad, Millwall have seen a number of contracts expire and players move on, meaning the summer has involved both recruitment and reshaping. Femi Azeez remains at the club at present, despite reported interest from elsewhere, while the transfer window remains open.

What Are Millwall’s Season Expectations?
Expectations are understandably higher after a third-place finish and a club-record 83-point Championship campaign. Millwall have demonstrated that they can compete with the leading sides, and the objective will be to remain in the promotion picture throughout the season.
There will nevertheless be plenty of challenges. Injuries, suspensions, fixture congestion and the difficulty of maintaining form over 46 league matches can quickly change the picture. Millwall will also need to replace or improve upon the attacking production that helped drive last season’s promotion challenge.
If Neil can keep the squad competitive and the new arrivals settle quickly, another push towards the play-offs is a realistic expectation. The ultimate outcome will depend on how consistently Millwall can perform against the Championship’s other promotion contenders.
